8-0001 | Garabou socks ankle
It is ankle length, covering the ankles.
The length is easy to balance and match with longer bottoms and leggings.
For the indigo, we used indigo-dyed thread and garabo thread. The mixture of yellow and indigo creates a refreshing color.
What is Garabou?
Garabou is a spinning method that was developed uniquely in Japan and was invented during the Edo period as a way to mechanically spin Japanese cotton, which has short fiber length.
It is made from organic cotton waste and features a rich texture that resembles hand-spun fabric.
Garabou material cannot be knitted on normal knitting machines because its thickness is uneven.
We have modified a sock knitting machine that is over 40 years old (which was designed to be able to knit a wide range of yarn thicknesses because spinning methods were still immature) to create a special knitting machine for these socks.
This is a technique unique to Yamaya.
*Due to the nature of the yarn, Garabou products vary in length and size. Please understand that this is also an individual characteristic of the yarn. We hope you will enjoy the unevenness of the handmade feel, which feels almost one-of-a-kind, as a characteristic of Garabou spinning.

- ・Use a maximum water temperature of 30°C, and if using a washing machine, place the socks in a laundry net. (Hand washing is recommended for natural materials such as animal hair, silk, and linen.) When placing the socks in a laundry net, turning them inside out will help remove dirt such as sweat and sebum.
